Iranian Physical Types

Here is some interesting information on the physical types of Iranians. There are various physical groups. The Irano-nordoid is one of the most prevalent and probably native to the iranian plateau comprising the principle elements of its population. Here is some pics of the Irano-nordoid physical types. It is distinguished by

- long face with smaller and longer jaw
- moderate to heavy brow ridge
- moderate to very body hair and beard growth
- straight nosed
- moderate to prominent cheekbones
- slight to moderate or large build
- big occiput (long head bulging at the back) and are long-headed
- sloping forehead
- rugged jawline

This is my facial type. Compare to other facial types it has a longer face and head.

Mediterranean physical type is widespread throughout the near-east and southern Europe, found to a smaller extent in some parts of Iran. It is characterized by

- smaller jaw in comparison to a wider forhead
- slight to hevy brow ridge
- moderate to heavy body and facial hair
- slight build (very thin)
- smaller head length (head does not stretch as far back as the Irano-nordoid)
- sloping forehead
- weak jaw
- can have either straight or hoked nose

Here are some Armenioids, whcih fall under the alpine subrace. Armenoid DOES NOT mean u are Armenian. It just means u have these characteristics

- long face due to excessive height, but still a wide face
- powerful jaws, wider though not as rugged as irano-nordoid
- generally has heavier facial hair and body hair
- a head that is not very long, no occiput, is round-headed and short-headed
- generally straight nosed
- a slight sloping forehead
- moderate to heavy build
- heavier brow ridge

Most ppl do not fit solidly in one catagory, choose the one that best suites u for the poll.

Irano-Nordoid ---vote--- Irano-Nordoid

Mediterranoid ---vote--- Mediterranid (my spelling error)

Dinaroid ---vote--- Armenoid (they are a branch of Dinaroids)

and if your answer comes up as Alpinoid or proto-europoid ---vote--- another type

three answers will come up. If one is different than the other two, go with the most common one.

I just realized I didn't put any pics for women. WOmen can be tougher to catagorize as their jaws are not as destinctive as men (Testosterone at puberty works to affect men's jaw shape). Here are some pointers and pics

- Mediterranean women have an overall smaller face (compared to their forehead) Their head streches back further than Armenoid's but not as much as Irano-nordoid.

- Armenoid women will have a longer and wider face than mediterranean but the back of their head is straight (not rounded)

-Irano-nordoids have longer faces (especially compared to forehead) and very long heads. Their faces are wider than Mediterraneans with prominent cheekbones, but not as wide as armenoid

2) This pic is of three middle-eastern women Egyptian-Persian-Indian (left to right) The women on left and right are mostly mediterranean. The woman in the middle is Irano-nordoid with perhaps a little Armenoid

3) This one is Armenoid, main difference is the head is very short (does not stretch back at all)

4)final pic is a persian girl. SHe is mostly Irano-nordoid

Here are maps of genotypes using genetic markers. Map A (the blue one) is caucasian genes. Most of Iran is Caucasoid. Map B (green one) show southern Asian (indian) genes. As u can see there is not much in Iran, only in the southeastern areas, like baluchistan. Map C is Asian marker genes. Not much in Iran either, mainly in the Northeast corner where various Turkmen tribes reside. The Iranian Plateau eastward show mainly causcasian markers

1+2) Ali Daei is mostly Armenoid, note the flat back of the head, although probably mixed with Irano-nordoid.

3) Hossein Rezazadeh, the world's strongest man, is Armenoid

4)Abbas Jadidi, a champion wrestler, is Armenoid

5)Ali-Reza Heydari another wrestler is Irano-nordoid

6) Amir Tavakolian, also a wrestler, is another Irano-nordoid

Hmm I don't know really I think it's a mix of everything...I have a strong jaw-line, big eyes, medium nose, medium-big lips, little forehead....

Najibam, u are definitely not Mediterranean, especially if u have a longer face. Does the back of your head bulge back a bit, or is it flat? If it is flat your Armenoid. If the back of your head has a bulge, then u are Irano-Nordoid. Look at the sideshots above to see examples. Then vote.

Ok thanks for the info I have a hard time categorizing my appearance, my face is not long defenetaly, more round and and a strong jaw-line but I do have a bulge on the back of my head, so gues I'm a mix of Armenoid and Irano-Nordoid...

I am Irano-nordoid. Not a perfect example, but pretty much an Irano-nordoid. I have long face, rugged face, green eyes, my head bulges back a little, my cheekbones are prominent, heavy brow ridge, high forehead, a lot of facial and body hair, and a rounded straight nose.
